| House of Mouawad Opulence Lights up London Catwalk Date: 13 Feb 2001 London Among all the new trends and styles on display at London Fashion Week, a taste for opulent and eye-catching accessories, jewellery and adornments emerged as one of the strongest fashion statements for Autumn/Winter 2001/02. UK fashion favourite Ghost was no exception, with fashion guru Tanya Sarne choosing to enlist the help of prestigious Bond Street jewellers House of Mouawad to provide the ultimate in luxurious accessories for her first London show since a stint in New York. House of Mouawad was happy to oblige by supplying an amazing ?4.5 million worth of precious jewellery and exquisite bejewelled accessories, all under some of the tightest security ever witnessed at London Fashion Week. The result of this high-profile collaboration was described by Hilary Alexander from the Daily Telegraph as one of her favourites of the week and featured a fairy-like collection by Ghost, set off to perfection by the sparkling beauty of House of Mouawad designs. Highlights included a delicate green satin camisole worn with the pear-shaped diamond drop Riviera Necklace worth an astonishing ?900,000 and a corset quilt fitted trouser suit accessorised by a Black & Diamond Bracelet worth over ?440,000. The glittering Heart-Shaped Diamond-Encrusted Bag worth ?1.2 million swung alluringly in Jaquetta Wheeler's hand as she sauntered down the catwalk and the show-stopping finale featured a georgette camisole and velvet coat paired with an exquisite antique Emerald and Diamond set, including tiara, worth in excess of ?155,000 and once owned by Marie Antoinette. Ghost thanked House of Mouawad "for trusting us with their beautiful and priceless jewellery, crafted from the finest gold and precious stones," saying that without them " our show would have less sparkle."
