Jeweler to royalty partners with new movie on iconic royal
Mouawad has revealed its special partnership as exclusive jewelry sponsor of Spencer movie, a new biopic on the life of Princess Diana, which received a rapturous standing ovation following its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3.
Spencer, by acclaimed director Pablo Larrain and writer Steven Knight, stars Kristen Stewart in the role of Princess Diana in a performance that has garnered high praise as well as high expectations for awards season. The story takes place in a pivotal life-changing weekend for Princes Diana over the Christmas holidays in the early 1990s.
Ahead of Spencer’s highly anticipated theatrical launch in US and UK cinemas on November 5, a trailer has been released, giving glimpses of a number of the jewelry items to feature in the movie. The most famous and iconic piece of jewelry worn by Princess Diana in her lifetime is undoubtedly her sapphire and diamond engagement ring. For Spencer, Mouawad selected a ring featuring 1.82 carat of diamond and 7.25 carat of sapphire, closely resembling the original, to be worn by Kristen Stewart in her role. Pearls and diamonds were a strong favorite among Princess Diana’s extensive jewelry collection and for Spencer Mouawad selected a number of pieces that evoke the spirit of the princess’s world-renowned style, including a superb 682 carat pearl choker with a 1.31 carat diamond-set clasp, three stunning pairs of pearl and diamond earrings, as well as a pair of pearl, diamond and pink sapphire earrings, featuring 1.10 carat of diamond, 1.03 carat of sapphire and 26.60 carat of pearl. A Mouawad timepiece set with 21.55 carat of diamond can also be seen gracing Princess Diana’s wrist in Spencer, while the Mouawad Luminity Suite, an exceptional set composed of a matching necklace, bracelet, earrings and ring, crafted with 107.05 carat of diamond, makes a dazzling appearance.
